First action
The Friends of Andros Festival is preparing to organize the 10th anniversary of the 10th Andros International Festival in the summer of 2024, celebrating the first decade of the Festival with important events.
In this context, it is planning actions from the winter of 2024, starting with the presentation, with free admission, to students of high schools of Andros, of the teenage performance "Merry Christmas, my dear Charlie" by Sofiana Theofanous (State Award for Children's / Teenage Play 2022), directed by Maria Xanthopoulidou.
The performance, after its successful staging in Athens, travels exclusively to Andros, from 9 January to 11 January 2024.
Andros Festival Friends of Andros is preparing other activities for the winter and spring of 2024, which will be announced soon.
A few words about the play
The play was based on real stories of unaccompanied refugees through a workshop that took place at the Small National Theatre in 2018-2019. It was awarded the state children's/teen play award in 2022.
It is about the meeting of two teenagers - a boy and a girl - in an attempt to come together, with a wall between them that prevents them and forces them to confide their personal anxieties and needs without being able to see each other. This event becomes the occasion to reveal the different worlds from which they come from and to see each other through the eyes of their imagination and their souls.
With humour and generosity they slowly open their hearts and lean on each other, talking about love, friendship and the difficulties in their everyday lives.
