The 5 most popular beaches of Andros

 

 

1. Tis Grias to Pidima

The most popular and most photographed beach of Andros with a huge rock (15 meters high) that rises through the sea, a few meters from the shore. Its name translates to “Old Lady’s Jump” from an old myth about the Ottoman occupation. There are many versions of the name of this beach and according to the most prevalent, the rock is the fossilized form of an old woman who ended her life by jumping from above at this point. Its turquoise waters and the wonderful sandy beach create an exotic and wild beauty. Access to the beach is either by hiking and descending a steep path, or by sea from the bay of Korthi.

 

2. Achla

One of the most beautiful beaches not only on the island but also in Greece, is located on the southeast side of Andros. A beautiful closed bay with fine sand, fine white pebbles and enchanting emerald waters. One end is adorned by the church of Agios Nikolaos while the other is dominated by the imposing lighthouse of Gria. Access is by sea from Andros Town or via an inaccessible dirt road from the village of Vourkoti.

 

3. Chryssi Ammos

Chryssi Ammos beach in Andros is one of the most popular beaches of the island. Where the fun summer vibes are always present. Music, dancing and endless fun on the golden sand with amazing endless blue views. The beach is perfectly organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar with loud music. Chryssi Ammos is extremely popular, especially to younger visitors, but also to families.

 

4. Vitali

One of the most beautiful beaches of the island with deep blue, crystal clear and deep waters. Vitali is an earthly paradise adorned with pebbles. It’s the perfect choice for windy days, as it’s not affected by sandblasts - a common phenomenon in our island. Access to it is via a passable dirt road from the port of Gavrio.

 

5. Zorkos

Endless beach with golden sand and turquoise crystal clear waters that give it an exotic and incomparable beauty. Zorkos is considered to be the island’s top destination for every visitor. On one hand, Zorkos is ideal for those who seek a peaceful and relaxing day at the beach, as its size and location guarantee tranquility even when it’s crowded.
