ANDROS IN THE MUSIC OF THE AEGEAN

How is the musical profile of a place formed? What lies behind what one can hear and see today? What can one expect for the future?

Haris Sarris, Ph.D. of Ethnomusicology (EKPA), will talk about the music of the island, as he experienced it: from the primordial flow of the tsamounda to the sophisticated ballad melodies of Asia Minor. The approach will be based on a combination of tools from ethnomusicological and organological research and network theory. The lecture will be accompanied by audio-visual material.

  • Traditional musicians from all over Andros will play
