Chronis Botsoglou - The uncompromising sincerity of empathy 02.07 - 01.10 2023, Museum of Contemporary Art, Andros

This summer, the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation presents at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Andros a retrospective exhibition dedicated to Chronis Botsoglou, titled "The uncompromising sincerity of empathy", from July 2, 2023 through October 1, 2023.

On Sunday July 2, 2023, the first day of the exhibition, admission will be free of charge.

Chronis Botsolgou (1941-2022) was one of the most important figurative artists of contemporary Greek art. The retrospective exhibition in Andros will feature more than 100 oils, pencil drawings, pastels, watercolours, bronzes, brasses and plasters from 1953 to 2018, revealing more than 65 years of a highly productive artistic journey.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue, in Greek and English, featuring texts by the exhibition’s curator Marie Koutsomallis-Moreau, a detailed chronology, statements by Botsoglou and photographs, most of them unpublished, provided by the artist’s family.

Guided tours of the exhibition in Greek and English will take place in August and creative workshops for children of different ages (3-4, 5-7, 8-12) as well as family guided tours have been scheduled from mid July until the end of August.
